Private Label Jewelry Manufacturer | White Label OEM Guide — HOLYCOME

Launching a jewelry brand without owning a factory is the standard path for most modern jewelry businesses — and the difference between a brand that scales and one that stalls often comes down to choosing the right private label jewelry manufacturing partner. A good OEM partner gives you consistent quality, reliable lead times, transparent pricing, full branding support, and the flexibility to grow from 50-piece test orders to 5,000-piece seasonal collections without switching factories mid-growth. At HOLYCOME, we have been a private label jewelry manufacturer for over 12 years, working with startup brands, established DTC jewelry labels, bridal designers, and retail chains. This guide covers our private label jewelry process, branding services, MOQ tiers, pricing structure, quality standards, and what to look for in an OEM jewelry partner.

What Private Label Jewelry Actually Means

Private label jewelry (also called white label jewelry) is jewelry produced by a manufacturer and sold under your brand name. Unlike bespoke one-off custom pieces for individual clients, private label production is designed for repeatable, consistent collections with your logo, your packaging, your branding, and your quality standards — all produced by a factory partner that does not compete with you by selling direct to consumers under its own brand.

Private label vs. custom design. In private label, the designs can be yours (original CAD you developed), adaptations of our existing catalog styles with your modifications, or fully original pieces we co-develop with your brand direction. The defining feature is that the manufacturer produces the pieces, and you brand and sell them as your own. Bespoke custom is for individual end consumers; private label is for brands building a product line.

Why brands choose private label. Building your own jewelry factory requires a minimum $500K investment in casting equipment, polishing stations, setting benches, plating lines, trained jewelers, and quality control staff — plus years to build the expertise to produce consistent commercial quality. Private label lets you launch in weeks with proven quality, scale orders up and down with demand, and focus your capital on branding, marketing, and customer relationships rather than equipment. This is the model used by the majority of successful DTC and boutique jewelry brands today.

HOLYCOME Private Label Services

We offer full-service private label jewelry manufacturing covering the entire product journey from concept to delivery.

Design and Development

Choose from three development paths depending on where you are in your brand journey.

  • Catalog white label: Start from our 500+ existing production-ready designs (rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets in various styles). Add your logo, choose plating finish, select stone specs, and order with our lowest MOQs. Fastest path to launch — samples in 7-10 days, production in 15-20 days. Ideal for startup brands testing the market.
  • Modified designs: Take a base design from our catalog (or your reference) and modify it — change stone size, adjust proportions, add an engraved logo, switch alloy, modify the chain, or combine elements from multiple existing designs. CAD modifications are 3-5 days; samples take 12-15 days; production runs 18-22 days.
  • Fully custom original designs: Bring us sketches, inspiration boards, or napkin drawings and we develop exclusive designs for your brand from scratch. Full CAD development (5-7 days per SKU), silver prototypes (7-10 days), sampling in your final alloy (10-14 days), then full production (20-25 days). Designs developed for your brand remain exclusive to your brand — we do not sell them to other clients.

Branding and Packaging

Private label is more than just unbranded jewelry in a bag — your brand touches every piece the customer receives. We offer complete branding services.

Logo application. We apply your logo via several methods depending on piece size and finish: laser engraving (most common, crisp detail at 0.3mm minimum), hand stamping (for premium pieces and traditional jewelry), deep relief engraving (for a substantial stamped look), or logo plate soldering (a small plate with your logo is soldered onto the piece). All logo applications are verified for clarity before production; we provide photo samples for approval before running full production.

Custom packaging. Choose from our standard packaging (anti-tarnish pouch + jewelry box) or design fully custom packaging with your branding. We produce custom earring cards, logo-printed jewelry boxes, velvet inserts with your brand color, hang tags, care instruction cards, poly bags with logo print, shipping mailers, and gift bags. Setup fees are $150-$500 depending on complexity; per-piece packaging costs range from $0.50 (branded pouch) to $8 (premium logo gift box). Packaging is produced in parallel with jewelry to avoid delays.

Quality cards and certifications. We provide quality assurance cards, metal content certification cards (for gold/platinum pieces), stone authenticity cards (for diamond and gemstone pieces over 0.5 ct), and care instruction cards printed with your logo.

Quality Control and Compliance

Every private label production run goes through our multi-stage QC: casting quality check, stone setting verification, polish and plating inspection, dimensional measurement against spec, logo clarity inspection, function testing (clasps, hinges, earring posts), pair matching (for earrings), and final packaging check. Our QC rejection rate targets under 3% for gold and under 5% for silver — defective pieces are reworked before shipment.

We comply with FTC Jewelry Guides for metal and stone descriptions, EU REACH regulations for nickel release (EN 1811 testing available), California Prop 65 for cadmium and lead content, and the Kimberley Process for conflict-free diamonds. Certification and lab testing reports are available for every production run at cost.

Real-World Project: DTC Brand Launch Collection

A Brooklyn-based startup jewelry brand launched in spring 2025 with a minimalist everyday collection targeting professional women aged 28-45. They had strong brand identity (logo, packaging design, color palette), a $45K startup budget, and needed a 12-SKU launch collection in 14K gold fill and vermeil, delivered in 10 weeks for a planned Instagram launch.

Week 1-2: Design consultation. The founder had reference images but no CAD files. We recommended starting with 8 catalog white label SKUs (selected from our everyday collection) and 4 modified designs based on her references — this kept CAD costs manageable while still giving the collection a distinctive look. We advised 14K gold fill for the core everyday pieces (durability and price point alignment) and vermeil for two statement earrings. MOQ was 30 per SKU for gold fill, 100 per SKU for vermeil, for a total initial order of 440 pieces across 12 SKUs.

Weeks 3-4: Logo placement and sample production. The logo was laser-engraved on the interior of rings, on the back of necklace pendants, and on earring posts. Silver samples were produced for the 4 modified designs; catalog samples in vermeil were pulled from existing sample stock. The founder approved 11 of 12 samples and requested a slightly thinner band on one ring — revised sample approved on day 25.

Weeks 5-8: Packaging design (in parallel). Custom jewelry boxes with the brand's muted green color and logo foil stamp, branded anti-tarnish pouches, logo earring cards, and care instruction cards were designed and produced. Packaging setup cost was $680 total with per-piece packaging at $1.80.

Weeks 6-10: Full production run of 440 pieces. Casting, assembly, stone setting (small CZ accents on two styles), gold fill plating (2.5+ microns verified by XRF), polishing, laser logo engraving, and QC. QC rejected 14 pieces across the order — three engraving issues, two plating issues, four stones slightly loose, and five dimensional variances. All reworked. The order shipped day 68, three days ahead of the 10-week deadline.

The brand launched successfully, selling 60% of inventory in the first six weeks and placing their first reorder within two months of launch. They have since expanded to 28 SKUs across multiple collections and are one of our steady monthly private label clients. For related pricing info see our pricing guide.

Choosing a Private Label Jewelry Partner: Red Flags

Not every factory claiming private label services is a reliable partner. We have seen brands suffer through quality inconsistencies, hidden costs, IP theft, and production delays from poor factory choices. Watch for these red flags when evaluating manufacturers.

No transparency on factory location or process. A legitimate manufacturer will show you their workshop, introduce their production team, and share photos and video of their facility. Refusal to provide factory access or references is a warning sign.

Extremely low MOQs with very low prices. If a factory offers 5-piece MOQ in 14K gold at $5/piece, they are either selling castings from third parties (no quality control), using gold-plated brass instead of solid gold, or producing low-labor-quality pieces. Sustainable commercial quality has real costs.

No design exclusivity agreements. If a factory will not sign an agreement that custom designs are exclusive to your brand, they may sell your designs to other clients or list them as catalog items. We sign mutual NDAs and exclusivity agreements for all custom-developed designs.

Inconsistent quality across samples. If your first sample is excellent but your second sample of the same piece is visibly different, production QC is poor and bulk orders will be inconsistent. We produce pre-production samples from the actual production process (not separate "sample room" pieces) to ensure consistency.

No compliance or certification. Factories that cannot provide metal content guarantees, nickel-release testing, or conflict-free diamond sourcing documentation are cutting corners that expose your brand to regulatory liability under the FTC Jewelry Guides and EU REACH.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a registered business to start private label production?

For production orders we prefer working with registered businesses (LLC, corporation, or equivalent) for invoicing and shipping purposes. For first sample orders we work with individual entrepreneurs who are in the brand-building phase. We do not require minimum annual order commitments for new brands.

Can you dropship directly to my customers?

Yes. We offer blind drop shipping from our facility to your end customers with no HOLYCOME markings on packaging or paperwork. Each piece is packaged in your branded packaging with your packing slip. Drop shipping adds $1-3 per order fulfillment fee plus actual shipping costs. We integrate with Shopify, WooCommerce, and other major platforms for automated order forwarding.

Who owns the designs we develop together?

You do. Designs developed for your private label collection are your exclusive intellectual property. We do not reuse, resell, or show custom-developed designs to other clients. We sign IP assignment agreements as part of our private label contract for full legal protection. Catalog white label designs remain non-exclusive (available to other brands); modified designs are exclusive to your brand if modifications are substantial (30%+ difference from base design).

What payment terms do you offer?

For first-time clients: 50% deposit to begin production, 50% balance before shipment. After three successful orders we offer 30% deposit / 70% before shipment. For established clients with consistent monthly volume we offer net-30 terms subject to credit check. We accept bank wire transfer, credit card (3% processing fee), PayPal (4% fee), and Alibaba Trade Assurance for first orders.

Can you handle large seasonal orders?

Yes. Our monthly production capacity is approximately 30,000 pieces (silver) and 8,000 pieces (gold), scalable with 2 weeks' notice through our partner network of audited subcontractors for overflow casting and polishing. All final QC, stone setting, and packaging is handled in-house regardless of volume to maintain quality. We recommend placing holiday orders (Q4) by mid-August to ensure delivery before late November.
